Novenas

The Ladies of Charity is a spiritual community committed to the awesome power of prayer. We gather virtually throughout the year to pray novenas and devotions for the intentions of our members and friends. Since we began our novenas in 2020, we have prayed over 150 novenas. We hope you join us in our spiritual devotions.

We are currently praying a novena to Our Lady of KnockWe will pray this novena from August 12  through August 21, the eve of the feast day of Our Lady of Knock.

This feast commemorates when our Blessed Mother, along with St. Joseph and St. John the Evangelist appeared at the South gable of the Church at Knock, County Mayo, Ireland to villagers on August 21, 1879.  Beside them and a little to the right was an altar with a cross and the figure of a lamb, around which angels hovered. There were fifteen official witnesses to the apparition – young and old – who watched it for two hours in pouring rain and recited the Rosary. Today, Knock is one of the world’s major Marian Shrines and has the distinction of two papal visits, Pope St. John Paul II in 1979 and Pope Francis in 2018.

The novena prayer as well as the intentions we have received are below. If you have an intention you would like us to include in our novenas and/or you would like to be added to our novena email list, please reply here

Our Lady of Knock
August 12-21

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Give praise to the Father Almighty,

To His Son, Jesus Christ the Lord,

To the Spirit who lives in our hearts, Both now and forever. Amen.

Our Lady of Knock, Queen of Ireland, you gave hope to your people in a time of distress, and comforted them in sorrow. You have inspired countless pilgrims to pray with confidence to your divine Son, remembering His promise, “Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find.” Help me to remember that we are all pilgrims on the road to heaven. Fill me with love and concern for my brothers and sisters in Christ, especially those who live with me. Comfort me when I am sick, lonely or depressed. Teach me how to take part ever more reverently in the Holy Mass. Give me a greater love of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. Pray for me now, and at the hour of my death. Amen.

Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world; Have mercy on us.

Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world; Have mercy on us.

Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world; Grant us peace
